Padma Bhushan, the prestigious award: is it any good ?
अपूज्य यत्र पूज्यन्ते, पूजनीयो न पूज्यते।
त्रीणि तत्र प्रवर्तन्ते दुर्भिक्षं मरणं भयम्।। (स्कन्द पुराण, मा.के. 3.45)
Apujya yatra pujayante, pujniyo na pujyate;
Trini tatra pravartante durbhiksham, maranam bhayam!! (Skanda Purana, Ma.ke. 3:45)
Where undeserving persons are worshipped instead of adorable ones, three things prevail namely- famine, death and fear.
Lately Rajat Sharma, the Editor-in-chief of India TV has been given Padma Bhushan award by Hon’ble President Mr. Pranab Mukherjee. I do not have any personal issues with Mr Rajat Sharma; had he not disseminated false and fabricated news on his channel, I would’ve really appreciated him. A channel which is forerunner in spreading anti-Hindu news is awarded for its supposedly “fair and unbiased news”, which really gave me a shock!
Let us discuss some facts :
Deepak Chourasia is associated with India News and spread false news several times on various issues. In a survey by Mediacrooks.com, he was declared as the worst reporter of India. Deepak Chourasia, by wearing flap jacket and helmet in Kuwait, gave news as if he were in Iraq – concerning live news coverage on war (i.e. he was not actually present in the war zone).
Notorious in making and fabricating false news stories to improve TRP by humiliating Indian saints is nothing new in the series. He, with malafide intent, aired false news related to venerable saint H. H. Asharamji Bapu (endearingly called ‘Bapuji’) having millions of the disciples all over the world. He morphed a personal video of a family in Gurgaon, Haryana on December 12, 2013, Bapuji was shown touching a minor girl in an indecent manner, and this obscene video was shown on India News several times a day for many days. In fact, the minor girl’s paternal uncle was hidden while her aunt was projected in the video voice-over as Shilpi, convener of Chhindwara Gurukul, (a school run under the aegis of Bapuji) in order to defame Bapuji and Gurukuls. Click Here to see what children achieve in Gurukuls.
The morphed video obviously destroyed the social and personal life of the aggrieved family by such defamatory conspiracy. Aggrieved family members attempted to file report in the police station, but all in vain. After interference of some NGO and social workers via dharanas and protests, zero FIR was filed. Overall, more than 5 FIRs and 70 complaints were made against Deepak Chourasia and India News channel.
But since we have a well established corrupt system, no action was taken against the channels despite the declaration that the case was prima facie cognizable criminal matter, hence arrest stay was initially denied to Deepak Chourasia by Allahabad Court. In such a serious matter Haryana and UP administration showed no promptness despite the case being in the ambit of POCSO Act.
FIRs were lodged against Deeepak Chourasia and India news in many places like Sitamarhi (Bihar), Darjeeling (West Bengal), Muzaffarnagar, Nawada, Dinapur (Bihar) in many cases under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, stated as under:
- 114 – Abettor present when offence is committed
- 153 – Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot
- 153(A) – Promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, etc. and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.
- 193 – False evidence
- 295(A) – Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion and religious beliefs
- 298 – Uttering words etc. With deliberate intent to wound religious feelings
- 500 – Defamation
- 504 – Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace.
- 505 – Statements conducing to public mischief
- 120(B) – Criminal Conspiracy
The Information Technology Act, 2000
- 66(A) – ‘Punishment for sending offensive messages through communication service, etc.’
- 67 – ‘Punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form’
Disregarding the altruistic deeds of Bapuji, for which he was invited in the UNO conference in 2000 (though his representative attended the conference and gave His message that the Almighty indwells in all) for instilling good habits in the youth, the children and the public, our biased system has put him behind the bars. And on the other side, by awarding Mr. Rajat Sharma for his alleged “fair reporting”, our powers that be left no stone unturned to humiliate our culture, our nation’s dignity and pride by incarcerating such an innocent saint Bapuji.
By awarding such people, we are promoting anti-Hindu elements in India. Please note that the ‘Padma Bhushan’ is the third highest civilian award in the Republic of India given for rendering the distinguished services in any field. Do you think that Mr. Rajat Sharma is a deserving candidate of such a prestigious award for the same (“fair and unbiased” reporting), who predates on our religious, emotional sentiments, causing agony amongst millions of Bapuji’s disciples by giving false news and depriving unwary public of the fair and authenticated news?
By awarding such people we not only dilute the standards and purposes of the Padma Bhushan, but also snatch the right of the public for having the pure, unbiased non-fabricated stuff of news.
When we do not have the appropriate stuff, how can we (the public as well as the judiciary) make our decisions unbiased? Repetition of the concocted tales will definitely deprive the innocent people from the justice, which is happening in Bapuji’s case.
We strongly condemn this decision taken by the eminent authorities of the nation and demand justice for both the public and the innocent saint, who, is put behind the bars without authenticated proofs.
